Endemic Isotopic Anomalies in Titanium

چکیده
Abundances. of the titanium isotopes were determined using a new high-precision technique that s~ows. terrestnal, lunar, an~ bulk meteorite samples to be indistinguishable. Ca-Al-Ti-rich inclusiOn~ m the Allende meteonte are found to contain Ti of widely varying isotopic composition reflectl.ng the :presence of at least three nucleosyJ?-thetic components. The anomalies in Ti appear to be rel!l-tlvely widespread. and, when correlated with Ca data, provide a clue to nucleosynthesis in the neighborhood of the uon peak and to the late-stage nucleosynthetic processes which immediately preceded formation of the solar nebula. A new method for MC-ICPMS measurement of titanium isotopic composition: Identification of correlated isotope anomalies in meteorites†
A new protocol is presented for precise measurements of titanium isotopes in natural samples. Titanium was separated via ion-exchange and extraction chromatography in two stages. Tests on Ti standard solutions show that isobaric interferences from Ca, V, and Cr can be adequately corrected, as long as these elements are present at atomic ratios of Ca/Ti < 20, V/Ti < 2, and Cr/Ti < 0.1. متن کاملPresolar isotopic and chemical signatures in hibonite-bearing refractory inclusions from the Murchison carbonaceous chondrite
Magnesium-, calcium-, and titanium-isotopic compositions, as well as trace-element abundances, have been determined by ion microprobe mass spectrometry for 37 hibonite-bearing inclusions from the Murchison carbonaceous chondrite. These and previously analyzed hibonite-bearing inclusions can be divided into three main groups based on morphological and mineralogical criteria. PLAty Crystal fragme...
متن کاملTitanium isotopic composition of CAIs from the Axtell and Leoville carbonaceous chondrites
The Ti isotopic compositions previously determined for “normal” (i.e., non-FUN) calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) from primitive chondrites display relatively small, but resolvable mass-independent anomalies, most likely of nucleosynthetic origin [1-10]. However, the limited dataset makes it difficult to conclude whether this range of compositions reflects the degree of heterogeneity in t...
متن کاملCalcium and titanium isotopic fractionations during evaporation
Isotope fractionations associated with high temperature evaporation provide important constraints on the physicochemical processes that affected planetary materials at the birth of the solar system. Previous evaporation experiments have focused on isotopic fractionation of moderately to highly volatile elements. Here, we investigate the isotope fractionation behavior of two highly refractory el...

Four hibonite-bearing refractory inclusions, HAL from Allende, DH-Hl from the Dhajala H3 chondrite, 7-404 and 7-97 1 from the Murchison CM2 chondrite, have related chemical and isotopic systematics: they exhibit large Ce and V depletions and very low Mg and Ti concentrations compared to other meteoritic hibonites and have mass-fractionated Caand Ti-isotopic compositions with emichments in the h...
